Welcome to the awfully awaited Digimon General topic.
Here you can discuss anything Digimon-related.
Be it the games, the anime or even the manga.
Keep it clean and follow the forum's rules.
Digimon Adventure(デジモンアドベンチャー
Dejimon Adobenchā) (1999)
It is the first season of the anime saga
Digimon: Digital Monsters. Its premise involves a group
of boys and girls being whisked to a parallel reality called the Digital World while at summer
camp. They were taken there because they were chosen children, the children that would
save the Digital World from the evil forces that threatened to destroy it. Each of the children
received a Digimon partner who was preprogrammed to be bonded to them, as well as
miniature devices called Digivices. With the power of the Digivices, their Digimon partners
could become stronger forms to battle enemies or save their partners from danger.
Digimon Adventure 02(デジモンアドベンチャー 02
Dejimon Adobenchā Zero Tsū) (2000)
It is a direct sequel to the previous season; taking place three years later. With most of the
original characters now in high school, the Digital World was supposedly secure and peaceful.
However, a new evil has appeared in the form of the Digimon Kaiser. This new villain is different
being human just like the Chosen Children. The Digimon Kaiser has been enslaving all Digimon
in sight with Evil Rings and Dark Towers and, to make things worse, has somehow made regular
Evolution impossible. Three new children are chosen to save the Digital World and, along with
Takeru and Hikari, make up the new generation of Chosen Children.
Digimon Tamers(デジモンテイマーズ
Dejimon Teimāzu) (2001)
It is the third animated series based on the Digimon franchise, first broadcast in 2001. The story
takes place initially in the "real world", a world much like ours where Digimon is just a franchise,
composed of video games, a collectible card game, and a cartoon series. A group of 10-year olds,
Takato, Jen and Ruki (fans of the Digimon card game) meet their own Digimon friends and start to
duel "bio-emerging" Digimon who cross the barrier between the information network and their world,
synthesizing proteins and becoming real. Most of it set in the modern Tokyo ward of Shinjuku and
only changes scenario to the Digital World for a short time.
The tone of this season has many elements from head writer Chiaki J. Konaka's other works,
especially
Serial Experiments Lain, including a few aspects from
Neon Genesis Evangelion.
Thus, the series had a very dark tone in nature, much more so than its predecessors. The
show's English dub had little editing compared to previous seasons.
Digimon Frontier(デジモンフロンティア
Dejimon Furontia) (2002)
It is the 4th Digimon TV series, first broadcast in 2002. After prompted to do so by unusual phone
messages, the 5 main characters go to a subway station and take a train to the Digital World.
Once there, they meet 2 secondary characters, Bokomon and Neemon, who act as guides, and
tell the Chosen Children that the Digital World is in danger. They must fight the antagonist,
Cherubimon and his Legendary Warrior servants before they succeed in dominating the world;
it's up to the children to save it.
Digimon Savers (Digimon Data Squad)(デジモンセイバーズ
Dejimon Seibāzu) (2006)
It is the fifth series produced as part of the Digimon franchise. Savers was the first Digimon
program to be produced in three years, following 2002's Digimon Frontier.
Unlike the previous seasons, Digimon Savers took on more radical changes for the character
designs ditching the style animation always used previously in favor of more traditional
bishōnen/bishōjo animation similar to
Gash Bell,
YuYu Hakusho or
Naruto. Also, according to
this series' composer, Ryota Yamaguchi, this series was to take in a wider age group, and was
aimed to also appeal to late teens aged 16 to 21 years, however, without ending it as a hobby
anime. This is why the characters are much older (ranging from early teen to adult) and the
story is much darker than in previous series. Also, as requested by Digimon's sponsor, Bandai,
in order to grab the older Digimon fans, Bandai wanted the reappearance of a Digimon from
the old series, which was chosen to be Agumon.

Digimon Xros Wars
+ Digimon Xros Wars - The Evil Death Generals and the Seven Kingdoms(デジモンクロスウォーズ
Dejimon Kurosu Wōzu) (2010)
"Digimon: monsters who are born in the digital world.
Although they're made up of data, they can also cry,
laugh, and fight like we do. They're our important friends!
Let's gather up as many teammates as we can!
Come along with us in our adventure through this world!"It is the sixth anime series in the Digimon franchise by Akiyoshi Hongo. It is divided into two
seasons, with the second season titled Digimon Xros Wars: The Evil Death Generals and the
Seven Kingdoms (デジモンクロスウォーズ~悪のデスジェネラルと七人の王国~
Dejimon Kurosu Wōzu:
Aku no Desu Jeneraru to Nanajin no Oukoku).
Its first episode aired on July 6, 2010 on TV Asahi, making it the first season in the series to
air on another network in Japan (Fuji Television aired all other seasons prior to Xros Wars).
Three and a quarter years after the end of the fifth season, a new sixth series was confirmed
by Bandai for the Digimon anime. The official name of the series was revealed in the June issue
of Shueisha's V Jump magazine. The art style for the series is more like the first four seasons
than that of Savers, and traditions such as the Goggles have been brought back. It is also
the first Digimon series to be broadcast in Widescreen and in Hi-Def. No official word has been
released on whether it will be dubbed and aired in North America or Europe, although Toei has
filed a trademark for a "Digimon Fusion Battles" with the US Patent and Trademark Office.

Digimon Xros Wars - The Young Hunters Who Leap Through Time(デジモンクロスウォーズ~時を駆ける少年ハンターたち~
Dejimon Kurosu Wōzu: Toki wo Kakeru Shounen Hantā-tachi) (2011)
"I'm Tagiru Akashi. Our adventures are taking place in
the DigiQuartz. It's the exciting world of Digimon that's
right beside the human world! The Digimon cause
problems as they're drawn to the evil within the
hearts of humans. I, along with my friends in
Xros Heart, are going to solve those problems!
C'mon, let's start the Digimon hunt!"Also known as Digimon Hunters, it is the seventh anime series in the Digimon franchise created
by Akiyoshi Hongo, and serves as the sequel to
Digimon Xros Wars. It started airing
on October 2, 2011. Its name is a reference to the Japanese film,
The Girl Who Leapt Through Time.
A year has passed since Taiki and his friends saved the Digital World and the Real World from
DarknessBagramon. Now Digimon from DigiQuartz, a space between the human and Digital World,
are being corrupted by human hearts and causing trouble in the human world. Furthermore,
a group of three called the Digimon Hunters appear and hunt these digimon by fighting and
capturing them. Once captured the Hunters can use them to DigiXros with their partners to
make them stronger so they can capture even stronger digimon. Eventually, with their new
friend Tagiru Akashi, Taiki Kudou and Yuu Amano begin to get involve with the mysterious
Digimon Hunt and the three Digimon Hunters themselves.
