Having time or not is nothing but a factor of motivation.
I'm in the middle of my midterms week and I'm still working on two game projects simultaneously.
If you don't want to, then don't, it's as simple as that. Starting a game project seems really cool on paper, but it's a lot of work, and you end up knowing your game so well that you can't get any fun out of it.
