So I bought the Half-Life collection on Steam for 9,99$.
I was wondering about the chronology.
Of course I guess 1 comes before 2 but beyond that?
Can anyone kinda arrange my list:

Half-Life
Half-Life 2
Half-Life: Episode One
Half-Life: Episode Two
Half-Life: Lost Coast                  That's some kinda demo I think right?
Half-Life Deathmatch: Source      That's irrelevant.
Half-Life: Blue Shift
Half-Life: Opposing Force
Half-Life: Source
Team Fortress Classic                I think that's irrelevant too?

Half-Life / Half-Life: Source [SOURCE IS JUST AN ENHANCED HALF LIFE USING HALF LIFE 2/TF2'S/LEFT 4 DEAD/PORTALS/COUNTER-STRIKES PHYSICS ENGINE]
Half-Life: Opposing Force [HALF LIFE 1 THROUGH THE EYES OF A US MARINE]
Half-Life: Blue Shift [HALF LIFE 1 THROUGH THE EYES OF A SECUIRTY GUARD, BARNEY]
Half-Life 2
Half-Life: Episode One
Half-Life: Episode Two
Half-Life: Lost Coast                  That's some kinda demo I think right? [YES]
Half-Life Deathmatch: Source      That's irrelevant. [YES]
Team Fortress Classic                I think that's irrelevant too? [YES, IT'S LIKE TEAM FORTRESS 1.5]

Fixed Chronology:

Half-Life
Half-Life: Opposing Force
Half-Life: Blue Shift
Half-Life: Decay (PS2 only, Co-Op)
(The previous 4 games take place at the same time, but they were meant to be played in this order (although I'm not certain about Decay))
Portal (Takes place in the same universe as Half-life, so I'll include it Tongue)
Half-Life 2
Half-Life 2: Lost Coast (Non-Canon level cut from the game, released later as a tech demo/benchmark)
Half-Life 2: Episode One
Half-Life 2: Episode Two
-Insert Episode Three-
Portal 2

Half-Life: Source is Half-Life in the HL2 Engine (Although the only noticeable changes are the lighting and ragdoll physics (which are uncommon anyway)
Half-Life (2): Deathmatch are non-canon PvP games set loosely in the Half-Life Universe.
Team Fortress Classic is what valve released after purchasing the rights to Team Fortress, it's essentially the original Half-Life mod with a more professional polish.

-Unrelated-
I have a very strong feeling that Episode Three will be announced by the end of the year Wink

Thanks for the history lesson~ Cheesy

You bet~
I'll get Ep3 when it comes out probably.
I wouldn't have bothered before because I never played Half-Life.
Except for Lost Coast and Deathmatch which came with my CSS box.

I just remembered, if you have an extra 15 - 20 GB on your PC, I highly recommend the Fake Factory mod.  COMPLETELY overhauls the graphics and appearance of HL2 and it's episodes.
It also has really high detail model replacers for characters (that in my opinion are a lot closer to the game's concept art in most cases (see next sentence)).  I enjoyed everything about it except for the Alyx replacers (although I have a feeling that you won't mind Tongue).

While many purist fans don't like it, I think the environmental changes greatly improve the game's atmosphere.

Also, will it burn my PC? XD

Yup, although as I said I'm not a fan of the redesign as it's hardly loyal to the original.  The author said he wanted to make an HD model based off of the standard Alyx, but he was having trouble so he was gonna wait for Episode Three's model and work off of that (In other words: "Never gonna happen")

And if your PC can handle Skyrim at about Medium settings, this should be fine.  My old PC had a $50 graphics card and it ran flawlessly (As an example, my old PC got about 20 - 30 FPS average in Left 4 Dead 2 (which uses a much newer version of HL2's engine and looks worse than Fakefactory), but got an average of about 30 - 40 in this mod).

And that's for HL2 and the eps right?
I'll start at the beginning.
I won't be installing everything at once but I may take this mod when I get to HL2.
It looks wonderful~

It's one install, so you need HL2, Episode One, and Episode Two installed when you get it.  But it uses separate executables and folders, so it doesn't effect the vanilla games.

But yeah, play the other games first, but I'll warn you that they aren't much story-wise compared to HL2.
And if Opposing Force And/Or Blue Shift seem like a grind, feel free to skip them.  They're never referenced again and are only arguably canon.

Ok, but I still do recommend going back and playing them at some point in the future, because they are good games.  They just contribute very little to the series and probably aren't even canon Undecided
