What's everyone's favourite Distro?
I don't use Linux anymore, but I loved Xubuntu, simply for having xfce. It had really simple, almost windows like shortcuts for things like going to the desktop, opening a terminal, etc.

Mint is best distro. cinnamon is a great de, but it is a tad resource heavy, so mate is a good alternative, but mint does come with most other de including xfce.

I heard that ubuntu booted faster than mint, so somebody recommended Ubuntu + Cinnamon. But I doubt you'd do that because of the ubuntu hatred

But I doubt you'd do that because of the ubuntu hatred ubuntu is bloated as hell and pretty slow, and boot time is irrelevant to me cuz mint waits for my external hdd to start up before booting, which i can skip if i want. also, canonical doesnt care about security, seeing as theyve released versions with huge security issues so they wouldnt be late or anything, not to mention the whole adware thing. and they dont even care about their userbase D:

I heard a quote about Arch linux, which makes a lot of sense if you've ever tried to use it:
"Arch doesn't teach you about your computer, or about Linux. It teaches you how to install Arch."

If Arch is so complicated, why do people use it?

I DDG on my mint when I can't remember a phrase because I havent had to use a terminal in months cuz it's so stable. Seriously, when I had ubuntu I was googling every other day trying to fix stuff, now that I has mint I havent looked anything up in forever.

Because it is literally a clean slate. It doesn't come with window manager or desktop environment, you have to install them yourself. Same with drivers and stuff. Honestly, I'd rather use a Debian based Distro. It has everything you need built in, and is good for beginner's and power users.

No not really. Maybe if you're using Arch and you are still learning.

That is the dumbest thing ever. Fo realz. You can just install/purge WM and DEs in any distro. :\

It's lightweight, install only the programs you want and you can completely customize they way you like you like if you know what your doing. It's alright, I used it for a bit but then I stopped because I got tired of messing around with configuration files, and spending hours reading documentation. While with Mint/Ubuntu the simple things just works easily.

You could do that with any distro but without all the hassle...

Most Arch users are ricers and like to start from scratch. But I agree, I think the way Arch works in needlessly complicated.
