Here's the deal. According to the WhoIs lookup ( http://bit.ly/11arlzP) for PPN, the domain is due to expire on the 10th May this year. Meaning we will lose: Every post Every members contact info (for those that still want to get in touch with old friends) Every news item Every discussion Every game Every memory Which of course sucks majorly... Some of you may remember my Archive Thread ( http://bit.ly/11bEC8s), but unfortunately, the only thing we managed to save was the RP board (although, it's probably one of the better ones to save). For those of you who don't know, PPN is currently DOWN, meaning I cannot continue the archival process. The only shred of hope we have left is contacting TimF. His details are on the WhoIs lookup, and I think it'd be for the best if we asked him for one of the following: - PPN's files, so we can setup a 1:1 archive
- Ask him to renew the domain, at least long enough to archive the files
Or, and this is the most likely option: - Ask him to fix the problem PPN is currently having, allowing us time to finish archiving the forum, and then being able to let the site finally die quietly.
It's a very long shot, I know, but I feel for the sake of all the memories PPN holds to us as a community, it may well be worth pursuing this. What I want to ask of all of you, is if there is anyone who feels they could write a persuasive email, requesting TimF's assistance. This really is PPN's last hope, and it'd be a massive favor to the community if someone could help out with this. Thanks for reading, please take the time to help if you can.

It's not an error, TimF shut down the forums. Same thing happened when Kloud shut down ludicom. He probably deleted everything already so all of our memories are gone.
You could try the google cache thing but I dunno if it's still cached.

I figured the same thing, he's probably just going to let the domain run out.

Yeah, though maybe we could buy it up and have it redirect here so if any old members try to log in, they get redirected back here instead of having to go through all the boards to find a post saying where to go? It might also get new members who are buying platinum used and shiz :\

the error message is not from it being shut down manually, it's from the site having going down by itself and not fixed because he hasnt noticed it. When Kloud shut down ludicom, it was different.

If you arent logged in, its the same as when Kloud shut it down, if you are logged in, it wont work because he basically broke membership to prevent us from returning and wasting his money on bandwidth and shiz.

It might be possible to download the archive from Google Cache or Wayback, I guess we'll see...
If not, we should probably buy the domain and have it redirect to here, definitely.
And It's more likely that this was an accidental shutdown, the home page is still there, why would he bother keeping that and not the forum?

because you can still use the info on the homepage, the forum would just make problems for him, not to mention it was always poorly optimized and he even got temps hut down for it at one point.

I can confirm that we CAN download an archive from the wayback machine, and most of the posts up till august 2011 are there (PPN was on it's last legs here anyway).
