For whatever reason, server hosting costs a lot more here than anywhere else. But we are only finally getting a nationwide fibre infrastructure, and that will be finished by 2015.

imagine the internet as a series of pipes.

smaller pipes cant transfer as much as large pipes.

fibre optic cables are basically giant pipes capable of sending tons of data through them while australias current internet cables are puny and it cant transfer as much.

since it cant transfer as much data as easily, it makes it cost more cuz it slows down internet for other users.

when you guys get new infrastructur, it wont be near as costly as it should be able to support more data transfers.
