Gather up a significant pool of money. $60 could pay for an entire year (plus you'll probably want to pay $10-ish for a domain).
I don't really take this community as the sort of community that would donate money..

Even if they would, how many people in this forum have a card? Not many.

I do agree.
I just pointed out how we /could/ if people were able/willing.

So there has been talks on the staff board about sorting this out again, will anyone be interested in donating a couple bucks or so to a paypal that will be made to buy a host/domain.  We've been thinking about which domain/host selling sites to choose, ones that are both cheap and decent.  If you have any suggestions, feel free to post them here.  If we get a domain, we'll look professional and people will join and if we get a host, then we may have more freedom on smf and the site will be faster too.

I guess we'd need the approximate price for the add-ons and to calculate who is willing to pay how much.
I personally do have a credit card and am ready to contribute.

Because just donating often seems really odd because we can't always see where that money goes. And especially for websites and online communities, we think twice before investing.

What if there was something linked to donations, like you know the money system could be bought, and forum currency could be given as a counterpart to donation, y'know, something like that ^^.

one of the sites we are looking at gives a bunch of free email redirects when you buy.  So they could be an incentive Tongue

I really want to lay out exactly what we want to invest in so that you guys can figure out exactly how much you want to donate, just like Aperl said.

We're looking at several hosting sites like Aryeh said, so once we decide on something we'll post all the details in Announcements.
