Breaking news! The Jump Festa trade show has just unveiled a new Pokemon crossover game: Pokemon + Nobunaga's Ambition. The DS game will be released in spring 2012 and is a collaboration between The Pokemon Company and Koei, the makers of Nobunaga's Ambition.

Nobunaga's Ambition is actually a RPG that is on multiple gaming platforms in Japan - according to Wikipedia, "Nobunaga's Ambition is a series of turn-based grand strategy role-playing simulation video games, first released in 1983 by the Japanese video game developer Koei. Nobunaga's Ambition takes place during the Sengoku period of feudal Japan. As the title suggests, the player is tasked with achieving the ultimate goal of warlord Oda Nobunaga: the conquest and unification of Japan. Selecting Oda Nobunaga is optional, however, as the player is also able to choose from a variety of other regional daimyos of the time."

Obviously, this new DS game will use the above premise but with a Pokemon theme. It seems that it will be a Pokemon game that takes place in the past with ancient Pokemon Trainers, as you can see in the official game artwork below. The male and female players will start out with Eevee - they are the boy and girl in the pictures below. The names of the "bushou," or military soldiers, are Oichi (the girl with the Jigglypuff), Mitsuhide (Articuno), Shingen (Groudon), and Kenshin (Mewtwo). As was already obvious, Nobunaga is the man with Zekrom. The official website promises that more bushou will be revealed in January. The region the game will take place in is called "Ranse."

Not unless you count the Mystery Dungeon games which is a Pokemon adaptation Mystery Dungeon series by Chunsoft that shares the gameplay with other Mystery Dungeon titles like Shiren the Wanderer, and certain Dragon Quest games.

It's not a crossover if there ain't other characters out of the Pokemon universe.

Smash Bros would be more like Guest Characters imo. Not crossover.

Pokémon + Nobunaga's Ambition

CoroCoro scans are starting to come off of various online sources. The first of these scans confirm that the battles you have are in the 6 VS 6 battles, using 1 Pokémon per trainer, but with multiple trainers in each area. Once you defeat the leaders of each of the 17 castles across the kingdoms, you take the castle for yourself. You make new Pokémon friends by linking with wild Pokémon outside of battle and befriend the leaders who can then aid you with their special power, increasing your strength, movement or Hit Points.
 You also have the ability to battle with friends across the Nintendo WiFi Connection and wireless play.
 The release date is also confirmed to be March 17th 2012 and will retail at 5,800 Yen. It also revealed new warrior leaders and their Pokémon
 Hideyoshi has Monferno (but is seen in the trailer with Infernape)
 Motonari has Servine
 Motochika has Dewott

Do you guys plan on trying Nobunaga's Ambition's games before actually buying it or do you care about it just because it has Pokemon?

Is this implying japanese are weird?

:P No. I meant that I always assumed Pokemon took place in a different dimension or whatever, and had different countries, continents etc,  so having old Japan, a real life place and time, with Pokemon is a little weird. Though this game is probably an AU or something.

I never thought about where Pokemon would take place... Like what they based it on when they started... First episode feels like japan though, but then after its just another planet xD

I always though it was like DBZ, where it's world is inspired by Japan because that's where the franchise is made, but it has different geography and talking animals and crap. :P

The wiki classifies it as the "Pokemon World", so it's separate from the real world xP

Out if curiosity, is anyone here planning on buying Pokemon Conquest?

I might, I'm not quite sure what gameplay would be like though, so I'm not sure.

The gameplay is -from what I heard- the best out of all the spin-off games. So is the story, character development and everything.

I'm probably going to skip this one, there are some 3DS games I actually would like to play a lot more.

If it was like Ranger and you could send stuff back to the main series games (like the Manaphy Egg, Eruption Heatran, Deoxys), I would have been more interested to get it.

Yeah... I mean, what does story, character development and gameplay have to do with anything when you can't even bring back 1 Pokemon to the main games? This is so stupid. XD

Well you know me, I'm all into the main series games, if I'm going to play a spinoff I at least want some benefit there.

This game is very fun and addicting. :)

I can't believe the gamestop I went to get it at was sold out, and quickly. I managed to get the last one in stock at another game store near me.

1- It's a Pokemon game.
2- It's a good game.

Oh thank god... I thought I was going to have to slap a bi-JYNX! That's what I meant... Yeah...

Yeah the ending scared me too... xD I was about to say, "back to gamestop with you", but then I found out after beating 32 episodes, the you can play the Main Character's (Hero) Campaign. Yeah... 32 episodes... I wanna curse now...

*raises right hand* I vow to beat at least half of those episodes before school starts again.

I only did about 8 so far. Some literally require you to beat all warlords and some are year based missions. It can be hard or easy and if you find and befriend people who had Pokemon from your original run, you can get your powerful Pokemon from them and wreck the episode with an iron fist. Charizard with Guardian Charm = Overpowered.

Its an awesome game and i just started playing it the other day, also its cool to play with my favorite pokemon as a starter :D

I have finished barely 6 missions and I got it when it came out. ._. xD

I played this and it's actually pretty fun for some reason xD

I thought this, but then I realized my brain was only convincing me it was fun, and that it was actually very tedious and boring.

I think it is a great game and not boring at all. I am in hydoshi's story evolving all the warlords that i haven't already.
