Title: Ever Felt "Attached" To Any Of Your Pokemon?
Post by: Steel on May 16, 2013, 07:39:58 pm
http://kotaku.com/this-guy-has-been-using-the-same-pokemon-for-a-decade-507614785

This guy, "Cunzy" has been using this Omastar, Dactylocer,  since fire red, and every game since.

What do you guys think of that? Have any of you guys felt attached to any of your pokemon?

So when I got my copy of SoulSilver, I ONLY used my Feraligatr (Odairu)
He was around level 67 when I got to the Elite 4 for the first time
He was literally the only member I used for the entire game.
While training him, I had obtained an Action Reply. I did use it to get x900 of every item, but I wouldn't dare use cheated Rare Candies on Odairu. I wanted my first level 100 on my first game to be legitimate.
Around 7 months later, I had lost my copy of SoulSilver. I was literally in tears for a week because of it. Hell, I'm tearing up just writing this. That was my first game I had. I used my all time favourite Pokemon for the entire game, and I spent three months doing almost nothing but train him. And it was just all gone... To this day, I still haven't found the cartridge...

To answer the question, yes.

Nope.
Well I think not.
Back when I started with Silver, the cloning glitch was allowing me to have multiple Pokemon of the same type, so I beat the Elite Four with six Meganium.
Then I began a trade market with my friends over the Gameboy link cable, and I received a level 100 Blastoise. I then used it for the rest of my game, basically training 5 Pokemon at the Elite Four which were holding an Exp. Share.
But despite these little stories, I did not become really attached to any of them.
So I don't see why I wrote all that...

I get attached to my Pokémon for sure, but I usually keep them in the same generation so I can go back to playing those games and have good Pokémon there.

I'm still mourning the loss of my Original Staraptor, Lucario and Dialga that I lost when my first Diamond cartridge deleted itself. Heck, that Staraptor was level 79 when I finished the league for the first time. In fact those were the 3 that I used to beat Cynthia as my other 3 pokemon had fainted. My Dialga still lives, technically, as I actually cloned him a few days before the game crashed but he is just a mere clone now and not the original :( I also lost my first Garchomp on that file but he still exists on my friend's Battle Revolution, just un-transferable.

As far as other games go I'm quite attached to my Feraligatr and Lugia on Soulsilver as I refuse to transfer them to Gen5 (practically rendering my SS cartridge useless). On Gen5 I'm quite sentimental about my Hydreigon that I used and trained to level 100, and she's now on my Black 2 as part of my Dragon team.

Venusaur helped me beat my first ever E4 legitimately, in Firered.

Since then I trained it, and transfered it to Diamond.

There I trained it to lv.100

to this day it's still my only legit lv.100

The only Pokemon I've ever trained up to level 100 is my Lugia back in Silver. Otherwise the lvl 100 I have were gotten on the GTS or bought on PPN.

In Black and White it talked about long ago people married their Pokemon.

I always feel attached to my Pokemon, especially the ones I use for the story and train for competitive battles. Even though I always start out with a new team in the new games, and stick with them for the entirety, I always make sure to transfer my old Pokemon to the newer games so I don't lose them.

However, there was always this one Blastoise that I've grown attached to more than any Pokemon I've ever had. He was from my LeafGreen cartridge, and I nicknamed him Spout. He's the closest I've gotten to a legit Level 100 Pokemon that I've raised from a baby (discounting my Darkrai, which I got at Level 50, so it doesn't really count). He's currently in my Gen V games, still there, still by my side throughout all of this. And I hope all my other Story and Competitive teams stay with me too as we move onto Gen VI.
