I like the starters, though the fire one look really feminine, doesn't really feel like the typical starter 50/50 gender ratio fits. So its kinda odd.

The animation in battles look freaking amazing, very similar to the anime.

It's kinda bittersweet since no more rom hacks or emulated lets plays. (For now at least)
It's kinda sad the iconic sprite battle style gone now, we've all played in that way for so long, but it's about time to bring in the new.

The good thing is that everything will be found out through playing it rather being leaked through the game code or something.
I wonder how this game will affect competitive battling.

HOLY CRIPES IT'S GEN 6!

I'm so stunned right now, coming back home to this crazyness.

X and Y are strange names, wonder what that means for the plot and the legends.

The starts look quite unique.  Grass looks interesting, Fire looks pretty cool, Water doesnt look best but it's unique so I still like that.  Legends are a bit confusing, I wonder what their backstory is and one of them looks like a Y.  It's funny how there is fanart already.  I'd think they would just have the names of the games revealed, not the starters too :o

So it's 3D.. I dont know it will work and I hope controls are the same and stuff, I dont want it too 3D ya know and it does look a bit strange, but hopefully I can get used to it.  Though I'm disapointed it's not an RSE remake because I would have prefered Hoenn in BW style as opposed to this.

Remember to report lots on this peoples!  Lots of threads, maybe a Generation 6 board would be good.

I feel this does stop us getting a Gen 5 battle game for the Wii(U) but we may get a Gen 6 one on Wii U.

HOLY ****! I think I just started liking Pokemon again.

I mean I'm a bit upset thinking how spriting may be changed forever, or eventually just die out.. But you know, it's time for something new, and eventually it may die out but I think after Gen6... I have a feeling really amazing artists will end up making fan art that will be put on spriters-resource and what not and people end up using that if anything xDD Who knows honestly..

I also find the battle scenes to be absolutely brilliant! The one thing I would like to have is to control the battles.. Like be able to try and dodge, counter, move around the field, etc... We got this far so YEA! =D


I love the names for the games!! I think XY is great, something that I haven't heard or scene before while also connecting it to the legendaries in multiple ways =D

I love all the starters.. n_n With all new generations, I do not demean any new Pokemon just because they are new, I appreciate them all.. n_n I think the Grass one is so so cute, and the water one is definitely unique.. Watch it have a killer final evolution xD The fire one is definitely my favorite though =D I might just end up choosing that! But I never end up keeping my starter on my team, lets see what happens this time haha..

I remember talking about it a few days ago, and I still stick to my word wishing for a 6th gen first and then a RSE remake because that allows the RSE remake to have all the abilities the 6th gen game would have, and well how can they just go back now? xD I understand why u wanted it in 5th gen style completely so i dont blame you xD I'm just happy they remade their sprites and even the gym leader sprites for BW2 n_n

And I agree that it's plausible that this region could be based off of France, which would AWESOME. I love that they're branching out the locations of the regions outside of Japan, like they did with Unova being based off of the US.

When they talked about strengthening your bond with your Pokemon, maybe instead of being stuck with random IV's, that the IV's can increase the more friendship you have. (Make the friendship system harder and more complex.)

Really, it makes sense with theme of Pokemon, as in "Bringing out the power of your Pokemon to be the best it can be." rather than "This Pokemon will genetically never be live up to the potential of it's species, gotta get a another one!"

Definitely agreed. I think they should revamp the EV system too.
EV training is pretty tedious and doesn't make much sense.
I dunno how defeating magikarp makes your pokemon faster
and it's annoying how your pokemon's EVs are locked in unless you use EV reducing berries (or some other obtuse method).
I would probably be more interested in competitive if they changed the EV and IV systems to something better.

Anyway... They can always make a serpent with decaying wings to represent Lucifer's Snake Form and that he's a renegade/fallen angel. Make it a Dark/Ground type and 100% male and have its Dex entry something like "???(Name) is credited for it's manipulation capabilities. It's rather sinister in nature."

Or go for a troll placement and make it a Pokemon that cares for all in the shape of a spirit (Normal/Ghost type) and have an entry like, "???(name) is a complete sweetheart. Its existence is often questioned."

My theory for the plot is that somehow the new evil team has gotten an hold of the DNA link and are mass producing them to fuse pokemon or change pokemon at their own will to take over this new region, which i speculate will be called chrome.

I would agree completely on DNA due to X and Y chromosomes, but not every Pokemon is made by Arceus. I mean look at Deoxys and Kyurem. They came from meteorites and since Kyurem is basically considered the shell of the former Reshiram and Zekrom, neither of them are Arceus-made. There are more examples but I figure you get my point.

So I finally watched the trailer.

I just thought since in the PWT, the gym leader guy alludes that Lt. Surge could be from Unova, and since Fantina is of French nationality, and the new region is based off of France, it wouuld be interesting if she could be from there.

Right behind ash is a sableye. This is a very unused pokemon and not popular. This suggests someone catches it which would be strange other then the fact it could work like apiom and follow ash to gen 6's region and evolve there. The merchandise always relates to a capture or a returning pokemon if it is  something like this.

So I guess we are considering Sableye to be a new Aipom partner for Ash? I guess I could see them reusing that and give him an evolution like they did for Ambipom.

Lol, like i said though( that is if this is in regards to the 2nd picture) it is most likely fake but it is not the pokemon i buy, it's the architecture in the background that i find interesting. There is big ben and some buildings that look very french. I don't know how photoshop works so i don't know how you photoshop that picture. As far as i know you can't hack any gen 5 game to make those buildings. So my question is what do you think of the buildings there, ignoring the potentially fake pokemon.

I don't gardivor looks good to.(XD) I think it looks real for several reasons: unlike other fake scans it shows it using moves in battles that have new animations, it looks a lot different then the other fan made jynx evolutions, it makes sense since it is linked to electabuzz and magmar but never got an evolution in gen 4. It looks like a an pretty good evolution for jynx. We didn't get any info this month so maybe by the next few days or early April we can find out if it is real or not. I hope it is, jynx is on of my favorites and i really like this evolution and wanted one for awhile. .

I didn't get the idea from a rumor.  Sylveon looks like on and so does xemnas. The announcment wouldn't be big unless it was new types think about it. They are only showing one pokemon that is not a big deal unless it was a new type. Also light and sound wouldn't change much. Here is how i see it would work:

Light beats dark and ghost. Dark and ghost are also super effective on light( since darkness can beat light in other games and ghost would make sense to) not very effective on light: normal and fighting. A few others may be not very effective to but i will think of them later.

Sound: super effective on light( sounds bazaar but would make sense if you think about it), normal and flying or just flying and light. Weak against ground, and rock. I can't think of any others currently.  This makes sense if you think about it and if i have to i will post what pokemon would be retyped.

a big announcement could be anything, it doesnt have to be a new type at all.  They've made announcements that they've said was massive before many times and it was like a new mon or even info about an existing one that was new, but not a new type.

it doesnt make sense at all to have those two at all!  If they have new types, it will not be sound or light.  For starters Dark type is called Evil type in Japan so there is no light-dark counterpart happenings at all, it's counterpart is Psychic type anyway.  Also there are existing mons like Whismur and such that are sound based and they are Normal type moves, sound is just a normal thing with moves like Hyper Voice etc, so it would be completely unnecessary.

so yeah it makes no sense at all.  Sylveon and Xerneas don't look like those silly fake types anyway.

And Team Rocket is sent flying two or three times along the way.

Actually almost all fans and nintendo call them mascots. The legends are one to but the one pokemon that is a focus of a movie not in it's own gen becomes it's gen mascot. It is also why lucario was in smash bros.

In order, the attacks used were:

1. Psyshock/Psystrike (most likely Psyshock)
2. Energy Ball
3. Shadow Ball
4. Blizzard
5. Psycho Cut
6. Focus Blast (bwlieve this is so due to the red aura and yellow blast)

Well there could be an order of items, so if it's a choice item, the first one only is used. As for berries or other auto-use items, the same rule applies.
Unless there are two things Pokemon can hold, for example:
1. Equipment
2. Item
Equipment includes choice items, X-Attack, Focus Sash, etc. which really deal with battle modifiers.
Item includes special objects such as berries, Leftovers, etc. as well as simple item holding, for example to give a Helix Fossil to your friend in a trade.

This just in a rumor has come in from a guy who leaked boldore, roglola, petill, jellicent, joltik, ferroseed, and veinipede with concept art stating that later today there will be a supprise announcement stating the legend's and slyveon's types. He says that there is a new type, the fairy type. He states that they will reveal that xernmas is fairy typed, sylveon is a fairy type, and yvulltel is dark and flying. What do you think? I believe it since he leaked a lot of real info for gen 5.

Adding a secondary type like that to mons like Clefable and Wigglytuff can make sense, but a lot of the others really don't like Pikachu.

Ok, if any rumours say new type, don't believe it because the types they say are really inconceivable.  There will most likely not be new types.
They would have to change the types of old Pokémon that fit the same criteria and they won't do that again because it is too much pointless work.  New types will not help anybody and the suggestions in these rumours have all been terrible and unbelievable.  Could we at least get a rumour that doesn't sound really silly.  Why would Xerneas be a fairy, it's a deer thing.

Yes it is a deer but based on a mythical one from Japanese legend. Also celebii should be added to that list imo. I don't think it sounds unbelievable that there would be new types. They said x and y will be apart of a key year to the pokemon franchise so they could bring new types in. Although i found out the spanish person that leaked a lot of black and white pokemon also says it is indeed flying so i don't know who is right or wrong.

I don't believe they would tamper with pokemon with established dual types like Celebi or Jirachi. Normal types are the easiest to play around with because there is a plethora of them. If they were to create a divide between more animal based Normal types and pixie/fairy based ones, now would be the time.

Then comes another question, would they simply tack on this "Fair" type to a bunch of Normal types, or give them the new type instead altogether? Game Freak would have to do this very carefully.

True and a good point. It would matter on how they plan it, although i think they would just add it to normal types. They need to be a weakness to something since they cause no weakness but have a weakness.

I still would prefer a better name for the new type than "fairy".

I would say that if this does indeed end up happening, we should get at least 30 pokemon of this type for it to be viable.

It also occurred to me that since "fairy" is the supposed Japanese type, then "Light" could be the English type. (I realize how stupid and trollish this sounds.)

Well to take Justin's suggestion to a new level, imagine this:
Having 4 slots, but with a fifth one as a placeholder for rematches.
I'm thinking of it as the sideboards in Magic The Gathering decks. You're allowed to 12 other cards, and between matches you can swap cards in order to adapt to your opponent.

Now that I think about it it's completely stupid for the game. But for online matches it could be interesting.

Wait not at all, you have 5 moves, but in a match you can only use 4. So you need to choose before you get into a match, and then no need to Tutor or TM that move just for one match.

In game that would be kind of tedious to do before each battle xD

Well since we are used to having 4 moves, we would keep our favourite ones. But if we end up being against a certain type and it turns out we have just the right move for it in our "safe spot," it could be really helpful.
But yeah if people have 5 favourite moves then... you have a point. ^^

The last generation brought in 155 Pokémon, the most that has ever been brought in for a single region.
With this being a very large region (by the looks of it), ~200 new Pokémon isn't put of the question.

I'm thinking we only get around 150 this gen.

Well i think it is going to be and is a reboot of the series, that will be a slight  revival that will try to be like gen 1, like with the alternate means of transportation which never fully made it into gen 1.

Why do we need new Pokemon?
Can't they keep the same and instead change the gameplay and experiment?
The only new stuff is couple gimmicks and hundreds of Pokemon.
The pokedex is almost larger than the freaking dictionary.

Though this gen they're boosting graphics and a bunch of stuff, why are we still talking about new Pokemon.
New Pokemon are obsolete.

Considering the trend... I don't think Gen VI will have a lot of Pokemon.
As Gen II had a very low count of Pokemon (The lowest actually; with exactly 100), and introduced Pokemon Evolutions.
Gen IV, another even numbered Generation, also had a very low Dex count and added Pokemon Evolutions.
If Gen VI followed this trend, I wouldn't be surprised if the Dex count was very small.

And yea I was gonna mention that, I'm really exxcited to see about that.. And there is also that stonegedge looking location to the far left which I'm really excited about!!

And you can see to the left of Lumoise City is that desert place from the first trailer.. And the big tree from the trailer may be to the bottom right based off quick observation? I'm not sure..

But there is a beach, desert, autumn leaves, snow, mountains and grassland... So much to explore!! Although it doesn't seem terribly big from the one region map, there still feels like there is sso much to do!! Also seeing as how big Lumoise City actually appears to me, I feel the whole region is ALOT bigger than meets the eye..

The insider guy on Pokebeach was right about the localized names of the 4 new pokemon too, so he might also be right about Fairy type.

we get icons, but thats cel shaded 3D again. Look at his lip, part of it's missing, showing the poor antalisng of the system (not dissing 3DS, just saying a handheld wouldn't be that good this early on).

Or that could just be because the sprite was shrunken.  Gen V did that a lot and caused many resolution issues just like that.

I must say though that Japanese animation and illustrations in general will cut the center of the mouth's line frequently.

That's probably just the antialiasing though. But the antialiasing is still really good from the trailers and pics we saw.

Plus, why would they keep sprites when models can be used everywhere.

My current opinion on the fairy type is as stands, but it'll probably change.

Maybe if they give Clefairy and all this typing, they might become more usable in the metagame.

Well the insider guy did say they are editing a lot of older pokemon to be fairy type, like Mawile is now going to be Steel/Fairy.

If they do this transition right, i believe it will be a pretty refreshing type.

I've become very comfortable with the idea of a new type.. I was always open minded and accepting to it, but now I'm more comfortable and looking forward to it.. But I guess that's just me then.. =p

For the first time ever I am actually disappointed in a Pokémon reveal... fairy type sounds really stupid and I didnt want them retyping old mons.  At least it's not light type though, though I'm not sure what sounds stupider.  If they wanted a new type specially to beat dragons, they could have made one that was less kiddy and not needed to retype, throwing the whole game out of whack.  Not like it'd make Wigglytuff usable though.

Well we got some new pokemon reveals, a butterfly and some kind of bat thing :P pretty cool, I hope they evolve into good things.  "Fairy Wind" attack xD
